The data doesn’t lie: GCI’s Anchorage 5G wireless network is more than twice as fast as AT&T
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – GCI’s substantial investment in its 5G wireless network is making a difference, giving customers Anchorage’s best mobile experience! According to new download speed test results from Score Technologies, a third-party tester, GCI’s 5G network in Alaska’s largest city is more than twice as fast as AT&T’s.
The tests, which were conducted in the Anchorage area, clocked GCI’s 5G download speeds at more than 145 Mbps compared to AT&T’s 51 Mbps download speeds. Score Technologies reached these results after conducting tests in April 2022 based on outdoor cell reception throughout Anchorage.
“The results are in, and we are thrilled to offer GCI customers the best 5G wireless coverage available in Anchorage,” said GCI Chief Marketing Officer Kate Slyker. “GCI has made significant investments in our wireless network in Alaska’s largest city over the last few years. With the recent speed tests showing GCI’s 5G mobile data download speeds at well over twice that of AT&T, the Hometown Team results speak for themselves!”
Each 5G-capable site is outfitted to utilize GCI’s low-band and mid-band radio spectrum, driving major improvements in speed and coverage, particularly in-building coverage.
“Not only are we offering the best mobile speeds, but we are also offering packages that combine our 5G wireless network with Alaska’s fastest internet to provide cost-savings and value for Alaskans,” said Slyker. “Our customers can now get 5G and home broadband together starting at $99 a month for both services – it is a phenomenal deal. We are committed to sharing Alaska’s Most Advanced Network for Alaskans at an unmatched value.”
GCI’s 5G buildout didn’t stop at Anchorage. The company is also making big wireless investments in the Mat-Su Valley, with crews working in high gear to expand GCI’s 5G wireless coverage in the Wasilla and Palmer areas.
