Fill a box, feed a neighbor: GCI Bethel store collecting food for local pantry

Community food drive benefitting Bethel Food Bank and Pantry runs through September 4

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – GCI is collecting food donations at its Bethel retail store through Sept. 4 to support the Bethel Food Bank and Pantry. The organization serves individuals and families across the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, providing an important resource for community members throughout the year.

"One of the things I love most about Bethel is how people take care of each other," said Michelle DeWitt, Executive Director of Bethel Community Services Foundation. "When someone needs help, this community shows up. Every donation is a reminder of that spirit."

"Small acts of generosity can make a big difference," said Tiffany Vassar, Senior Program Manager of Contributions & Events at GCI. "We're inviting our Bethel neighbors to stop by, drop off a donation, and help stock the pantry for local families. Every item helps."

Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the GCI’s Bethel retail store, located inside AC Store at 135 Ridgecrest Drive.

Most Needed Items:

  • Shelf-stable boxed milk
  • Spam and other canned meat
  • Canned soup
  • Pilot bread and other crackers
  • Rice and elbow macaroni

Also Welcome:

  • Canned fruit, applesauce, and canned vegetables
  • Flour, sugar, salt, and pepper
