GCI continues longtime support of the Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation with $20,000 donation

GCI has supported the foundation for more than a decade

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – For more than a dozen years, GCI has supported the Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation (HANF) and its mission to uplift Alaska Native people, Tribes, and Tribal Health Organizations. GCI continued its support this year with a $20,000 donation. The funding helps support three of the foundation’s top priorities – healthy patients, healthy kids, and healthy communities.

HANF’s flagship fundraising event, the Raven’s Ball, raised more than $324,000 in 2024 with the help of contributions from companies like GCI. The money raised at the annual event has helped fund projects like the construction of patient housing at the Alaska Native Medical Center, web-streaming technology in Neonatal Intensive Care Units for family connectivity, and support for education programs preparing health aides for rural Alaska.

"We are grateful for the steadfast support of our community partners like GCI, whose contributions have been instrumental in achieving our fundraising goals,” said Lilah Walker, Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation Senior Director of Philanthropy. “The programs the funds support are truly life-changing and every dollar is used to help them continue to grow and thrive.”

“GCI is a longtime supporter of the Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation because their programs truly make a difference,” said GCI Gives Senior Manager Tiffany Vassar. “Whether that be the peace of mind provided by being able to see your newborn in the NICU via webcam, or new housing to provide a safe and comfortable place to stay when traveling for care. The foundation reaches Alaska Natives in many ways big and small.”

GCI is one of Alaska’s leaders in corporate philanthropy, donating approximately $2 million each year in cash, products and connectivity to organizations across the state. GCI is committed to giving back to the communities it serves and provides employees with 16 hours of paid leave to volunteer with local organizations.
