GCI hosts food drive at Juneau retail store in wake of historic flooding

Food items collected through the drive will support the Southeast Alaska Food Bank

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — GCI is hosting an in-store food drive at its Juneau retail location, supporting those affected by the recent historic flooding in the community. Items collected through the food drive will be donated to the Southeast Alaska Food Bank, where it will be distributed to those in need. The food will also be distributed to the organization's partners in the area to resupply supports like public pantries, homeless shelters, community housing and soup kitchens.

“We’re with you, Juneau, and we’re here to help,” said Senior Manager of GCI Customer Service Sales Operations Matt Kliemann. “GCI and our staff here in Juneau are dedicated to supporting the community we call home and hope the food collected through this effort can help those affected by the flooding.”

  • Soups
  • Canned Corn
  • Canned Peas
  • Canned Chicken
  • Mixed Vegetables
  • Pastas
  • Noodles
  • Diced Tomatoes
  • Tomato Sauce
  • Spaghetti Sauce
  • Canned Fruits
  • Peanut Butter
  • Jelly

The Southeast Alaska Food Bank public pantry is open every Thursday from 3 – 5:30pm. People seeking assistance from the flood can go there for support.

Additional assistance is available through the Red Cross, which is providing free disaster relief comfort and clean up kits to the community. Those in need of assistance can call the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767, where they will be connected to local staff in Juneau who can provide assistance.
