GCI renews commitment as Alaska School Activities Association’s Official Technology Sponsor

The multi-year commitment includes more than $350,000 in cash, in-kind support for ASAA

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Reaffirming its longtime support of the Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA), GCI has committed to three more years as the organization’s Official Technology Sponsor! The multi-year agreement includes more than $350,000 in cash and technology contributions. GCI’s sponsorship will support ASAA’s work to provide and promote opportunities through activities for all Alaska students.

GCI’s contributions will help sustain the many ASAA programs and initiatives that encourage student engagement, celebrate achievement, and promote inclusion in communities both large and small.

“GCI is proud to stand alongside ASAA in supporting Alaska’s students,” said GCI Senior Program Manager of Contributions & Events Tiffany Vassar. “These programs do more than entertain, they help students build confidence, strengthen connections with their peers, and develop skills that support their success in school and later in life. We’re honored to help make them possible.”

GCI’s contributions to ASAA also support esports tournaments, March Madness Alaska, student of the month awards, and ASAA’s annual Hall of Fame Ceremony, which honors individuals who have made lasting impacts on youth development in Alaska. The partnership helps ASAA reach more students and schools, especially in rural areas where resources may be limited.

“GCI’s continued support allows ASAA to provide meaningful opportunities for students statewide,” said Billy Strickland, ASAA Executive Director. “Their investment helps us celebrate student success, promote inclusive programs like Esports, and ensure that every student has the chance to be involved. Together, we’re helping students grow into lifelong learners and engaged members of their communities.”

GCI is one of Alaska’s leaders in corporate philanthropy, donating approximately $2 million each year in cash, products and connectivity to organizations across the state. GCI is committed to giving back to the communities it serves and provides employees with 16 hours of paid leave to volunteer with local organizations. In 2024, nearly 500 GCI employees volunteered more than 5,000 hours.
