GCI supports Alaskans impacted by Ketchikan landslide
KETCHIKAN, Alaska — GCI is stepping up to support those impacted by the recent deadly landslide in Ketchikan. To help with the relief effort, GCI is donating 500 pounds of shelf stable food and $1,000 to the Salvation Army of Ketchikan to use toward additional supplies. GCI is also hosting a food drive at its local retail store. Items collected through the food drive will be donated to the Salvation Army of Ketchikan.
“We’re resilient here in Ketchikan and the community has shown up in a big way to support those impacted by the landslide,” said Denise Gossman, Manager of GCI Customer Service Sales Operations in Ketchikan. “GCI and our staff in Ketchikan are working closely with the local Salvation Army and we hope these contributions help our neighbors as our community recovers from this tragic event.”
Those looking to help with the relief efforts can donate directly to the Salvation Army of Ketchikan Gateway Corp through their website: https://gatewayalaska.salvationarmy.org/.
In addition to the GCI’s contributions to the Salvation Army of Ketchikan, the company contributes each year to the Red Cross of Alaska’s Disaster Relief Fund. Those funds stay in state and are used to assist with response and recovery efforts, like the landslide in Ketchikan over the weekend and flooding in Juneau earlier in August.
